ubi is a place for discovering, curating, and sharing your favorite places with the people you trust. These Community Guidelines set the standard for how everyone on ubi — users, creators, and businesses — must behave. They apply to all content and conduct on ubi, including pins, collections, messages, profiles, and any other use of the platform.
By using ubi, you agree to follow these guidelines. Violating them may result in content removal, account restriction, or permanent suspension. We update these guidelines as the platform evolves; continued use constitutes acceptance of any changes.
These guidelines exist alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, which also govern your use of ubi.
1. Who Can Use ubi
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you confirm that you meet this requirement and that you have not been previously banned from ubi for violating our policies or applicable law. Convicted sex offenders are not permitted to use ubi.
You must represent yourself honestly. Accounts must reflect a real person, business, or entity. Using ubi under a false identity, impersonating another person or organization, or maintaining multiple accounts to evade enforcement is prohibited.
2. Authentic Identity & Account Integrity
ubi is built on trust. To protect that trust:
- Use your real identity. Do not create fake accounts, use stock photos as your profile image to deceive others, or misrepresent who you are.
- One account per person. Do not create additional accounts to circumvent suspensions, blocks, or other enforcement actions.
- Do not impersonate others. Do not use another person's name, likeness, or identity to deceive users, even in a parody context without clear labeling.
- Do not coordinate inauthentic behavior. Organizing networks of fake accounts to artificially inflate engagement, spread content, or manipulate the platform is prohibited.
- Label sponsored content. If you are paid or receive compensation to promote a place or brand, disclose it in accordance with applicable advertising laws.
3. Safety & Physical Harm
Threats & Violence
ubi is not a place for threats. You may not post content that:
- Threatens death, serious physical injury, or violence against any person or group.
- Incites others to commit violence, including election-related violence or violence against specific locations such as schools, places of worship, or polling sites.
- Promotes, glorifies, or provides instructions for acts of terrorism, mass violence, or attacks on critical infrastructure.
- Constitutes a credible threat to bring weapons to a location.
- Facilitates or coordinates harm against people, animals, or property.
Dangerous Organizations & Individuals
Content that supports, recruits for, promotes, or glorifies terrorist organizations, violent extremist groups, hate groups, or criminal organizations is prohibited. This includes their ideologies, symbols, and imagery.
Dangerous Challenges & Activities
Do not post content that promotes or encourages participation in activities that pose a significant risk of death or serious injury, including dangerous viral challenges.
Self-Harm, Suicide & Eating Disorders
We care about the wellbeing of our community. Content that:
- Promotes, encourages, glorifies, or provides instructions for suicide or self-injury is prohibited.
- Promotes eating disorders, extreme unhealthy weight-loss methods, or mocks people struggling with these issues is prohibited.
- Mocks victims or survivors of suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders is prohibited.
If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a mental health professional or crisis service in your area.
4. Child Safety
The protection of minors is one of our highest priorities. We have zero tolerance for:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind — real, illustrated, AI-generated, or otherwise. All apparent violations are reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant authorities.
- Sexual solicitation of minors or any content designed to groom, exploit, or facilitate harm to children.
- Content that sexualizes minors in any way.
- Non-sexual abuse or exploitation of children, including child labor exploitation and child trafficking.
- Content that could identify, locate, or expose a minor to risk.
ubi is an 18+ platform. If we discover an account belongs to a minor, it will be removed immediately.
5. Sexual Content & Exploitation
Adult Nudity & Sexual Content
ubi is a place-discovery platform, not an adult content platform. Explicit nudity and sexual content are not permitted. This includes:
- Visible genitalia, explicit sexual acts, or content depicting or describing sexual activity.
- Content featuring nudity with the intent to sexualize the subject.
Non-Consensual Intimate Imagery (NCII)
Sharing, threatening to share, or soliciting intimate imagery of another person without their consent — including AI-generated or manipulated imagery ("deepfakes") — is strictly prohibited.
Sexual Solicitation & Trafficking
Offering or soliciting sexual services, sex work, or commercial sexual activity is prohibited. Content that facilitates or promotes any form of sex trafficking — particularly involving minors — will result in immediate account removal and reporting to law enforcement.
Human trafficking in any form — including forced labor, debt bondage, forced marriage, and organ trafficking — is prohibited.
6. Harassment & Bullying
ubi should feel safe for everyone. The following are prohibited regardless of who the target is:
- Repeated, unwanted contact after someone has asked you to stop.
- Content designed to intimidate, humiliate, or cause emotional distress to a specific person.
- Sexualized or derogatory content targeting a specific individual.
- Encouraging others to harass a person, or coordinating targeted harassment campaigns.
- Content that denies or mocks victims of documented tragedies or hate crimes.
- Revealing or threatening to reveal someone's private information to intimidate them (see also: Privacy).
Criticism of public figures, places, or businesses is generally allowed. The line is crossed when content targets a private individual in a degrading, threatening, or repeatedly unwanted manner.
7. Hate Speech & Discrimination
Content that dehumanizes, attacks, or calls for violence or discrimination against people based on a protected characteristic is prohibited. Protected characteristics include race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, and serious disease.
Prohibited content includes:
- Comparing groups of people to animals, pathogens, or subhuman categories based on a protected characteristic.
- Portraying groups as sexual predators or criminals based solely on a protected characteristic.
- Promoting hateful ideologies such as Nazism, white supremacy, or other movements premised on the inferiority of groups of people.
- Using slurs to attack or demean people.
- Calls for segregation or exclusion of groups based on protected characteristics.
- Offering services that claim to change a person's sexual orientation or gender identity.
Discussion, education, news reporting, and good-faith debate about policy issues — including immigration, religious practices, and social topics — are permitted, provided they do not cross into dehumanization or targeted attacks.
8. Privacy
Respect the privacy of others. You may not:
- Share another person's private contact information, residential address, government identification numbers, financial account details, medical records, or other sensitive personal information without their consent.
- Post content sourced from hacked or unlawfully obtained materials.
- Share the location of safe houses, shelters, or other sensitive locations that could put people at risk.
- Use ubi to surveil, track, or stalk another person.
- Post photos or videos of others in private contexts without their consent.
Given that ubi is a location-based platform, we take location privacy especially seriously. Do not use ubi to expose, infer, or map the private locations of individuals without their knowledge and consent. If you pin a place associated with a private person — such as their home address — without their permission, that content will be removed.
9. Misinformation & Platform Integrity
Misinformation
Content that spreads demonstrably false information likely to cause real-world harm is prohibited. This includes:
- False information about voting dates, locations, eligibility, or procedures designed to suppress participation.
- Medically false health claims confirmed by public health authorities to cause direct harm (e.g., dangerous miracle cures).
- False rumors or unverified claims likely to incite violence, especially in crisis or conflict situations.
We may apply labels to content that independent fact-checkers have identified as false or misleading, and may reduce its distribution. AI-generated or digitally manipulated media that realistically depicts real people or events must be disclosed as such.
Spam & Inauthentic Engagement
The following are prohibited:
- Using bots or automated means to post, like, share, follow, or otherwise engage with content.
- Buying or selling likes, followers, shares, or other engagement metrics.
- Posting at artificially high frequencies to flood the platform.
- Creating deceptive links, misleading URLs, or landing pages designed to trick users.
- Buying or selling ubi accounts, pages, or administrative access.
- Fake or paid reviews of places that misrepresent genuine user experience.
10. Illegal Activity & Restricted Goods
ubi may not be used to facilitate, promote, or conduct illegal activity. The following are explicitly prohibited:
- Buying, selling, trading, or promoting illegal drugs or controlled substances, including providing instructions for manufacturing or obtaining them.
- Buying, selling, or facilitating the private sale of firearms, ammunition, or explosives outside of licensed retail channels. Instructions for manufacturing untraceable or illegal weapons are prohibited in all contexts.
- Fraud, scams, or deceptive practices — including advance fee schemes, romance scams, investment fraud, fake charity solicitations, job fraud, and phishing.
- Selling or trading counterfeit goods, stolen property, fake identification documents, or stolen financial information.
- Facilitating the sale of endangered or protected species, historic artifacts, hazardous materials, recalled goods, or human body parts.
- Voter fraud or any activity designed to interfere with elections or census processes.
Content that discusses these topics in an educational, journalistic, or policy context — without facilitating the prohibited activity — is generally permitted.
11. Graphic & Violent Content
ubi is not a platform for gratuitous violence or graphic imagery. Content that is removed includes:
- Videos or images depicting dismemberment, severe mutilation, burning, or other graphic depictions of death or serious injury without journalistic or educational context.
- Content where the primary purpose is to shock or express sadistic pleasure at the suffering of people or animals.
- Staged or real animal cruelty, including animal fighting.
Graphic content shared in a genuine news, documentary, or public awareness context may be permitted with appropriate labeling.
12. Cybersecurity
You may not use ubi to:
- Distribute malware, spyware, ransomware, or any malicious code.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to ubi's systems, another user's account, or any connected services.
- Advertise or provide tools designed to hack, phish, or compromise digital systems.
- Engage in social engineering to obtain another user's credentials or personal information.
13. Intellectual Property
Respect the intellectual property rights of others:
- Do not post content you do not have the rights to share, including photos, videos, music, or written material owned by others.
- Do not use ubi to sell or promote counterfeit goods or services, or to falsely claim affiliation with a brand or business.
- Do not infringe ubi's own trademarks, brand assets, or intellectual property.
If you believe your intellectual property rights have been infringed, please contact us at support@ubiplaces.com.
14. Enforcement
When content or conduct violates these guidelines, we may take one or more of the following actions:
- Remove the offending content.
- Issue a warning or require acknowledgment of the guidelines.
- Temporarily restrict account features (e.g., the ability to post, message, or search).
- Suspend or permanently disable the account.
- Report content or conduct to law enforcement or relevant authorities where required by law or where we believe there is a risk of harm.
The severity of the action depends on the nature, severity, and frequency of the violation. Serious violations — such as CSAM, terrorism-related content, or imminent threats of violence — result in immediate permanent removal and referral to authorities.
Appeals
If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may appeal by contacting us at support@ubiplaces.com. Include your account information and a clear explanation of why you believe the action was incorrect. We will review your appeal and respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Reporting Violations
If you encounter content or behavior that violates these guidelines, please report it through the in-app reporting tools or by emailing support@ubiplaces.com. We take all reports seriously and review them promptly.
